Every year there are around 800 fires in care homes in the UK. On average three people die each year as a result, and a further 84 are injured.
All care homes are now obliged by law to have carried out a risk assessment, have an emergency plan in place in case of fire and train their staff how to deal with a fire situation. Failure to comply could result in prosecution, with the possibility of unlimited fines or up to two years in prison.

“We love the layout and format of all the Training In A Box products, especially the pause points in the DVDs; these give us time to question the trainees and make sure they understand each section before we move on. This kind of group discussion really helps to keep the staff involved and attentive.” – Bupa Regency Hospital – Alan Duffy

"With time being money the video is an excellent length. It gets the point across quickly and effectively. We’ve used it for years now, and will continue to do so."

"Having suffered the effects of a fire ourselves about 5 years ago, fire training is a top priority. We use the Training In A Box packs for inductions and refresher training and feedback from our 230 staff is always positive. We especially like the pocket guides and questionnaires, which mean we can assess the staff on their learning outcomes. "

"This pack is simple enough for everyone to understand. We especially liked the option to pause the video and discuss the points amongst the group. We've used it at our head quarters and are now passing it around the social services centres."
