Sample Extract

With regular training and constant fire safety awareness all staff should begin to fully understand the importance of good housekeeping. They should constantly look out for fire safety issues during their normal daily routine. All deficiencies should be reported and recorded on a non-conformance report. Here are some of the things to look for at the end of each shift or when vacating the premises:

  • All doors and windows are securely closed (where possible)
  • Electrical equipment is switched off and unplugged (wherever possible)
  • Areas where smoking is permitted are clear of smouldering or smoking materials
  • Naked flames are extinguished (where possible)
  • Combustible rubbish and waste has been placed in a safe place
  • The premises are secure from unauthorised entry
  • All escape routes are available for use and free from obstruction, slipping and tripping hazards?
